Garfield High School Ribbon CuttingOn May 20, 2007, Garfield High School suffered the loss of their auditorium due to a fire. The damage was so great that the main administration building also had to be replaced. The project was also utilized as an opportunity to memorialize the late, great teacher Jaime Escalante. Mr. Escalante was the Calculus teacher depicted in the film “Stand and Deliver”.Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) officials, students, staff, parents, guardians, community members and special guests came together on April 5, 2014 to cut the ribbon on the highly anticipated new main building, auditorium and the Jaime Escalante Memorial Plaza. We are the Joint Venture Architect and theatre consultant for the replacement of the Garfield Auditorium as well as the connected administration/classroom building. The 1300- seat state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center with a 2,000 sf dual use dance studio/black box theatre which incorporates some of the historical motifs. This is a CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance School Project. |
