We were the Architect and Theatre Consultant for the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center complex (previously The Ebony Theatre).  This theatre consists of a 400 seat, strong-thrust theatre with fly loft and support facilities, a 120 seat black box theatre, a video sound stage, a restaurant / jazz club, an art gallery and four live / work loft studios.

This project for the Los Angeles Re-development Agency replaces the existing historic theatre complex, the oldest African-American owned theatre in the US, and restaurant which had to be demolished due to safety concerns.  A tensile structure protects the plaza; the lobby simultaneously serves all of the venues in the complex.
