Construction Has Finished for Aquarium of the Pacific Addition in Long Beach

March of 2019, the construction of Aquarium of the Pacific Addition in Long Beach has completed.

EHDD is the AOR for this 30,025 SF addition. There is an approximately 10,000 SF special effects movie theatre, we are the theatre interior architect, theatre consultant and acoustician. The addition consisting of a 306 seat theatre and exhibit gallery and support rooms. The theatre’s main function is as an immersive special effects movie theatre by means of a 180 degree screen, a tilting screen/ stage lift and special effects built into the seats. The design of the theatre includes a control room and a catwalk system. This will allow greater flexibility for small performances, dance, lectures and panel presentations. The acoustical design for this round shape movie theater was very challenging and has received great compliments after built; the tilted up round stage in front of the seating area allows the seating of an orchestra to perform when flat, or projection when it’s propped up. .
