Ingomar Theatre Renovation

Location: Eureka, CA

Type: Renovation/Historic Restoration

Awards: 1989 AIA-SFV Certificate of Distinction

We were the Architects for the redevelopment of a second story flag lot theatre built in 1892 for the production of the play “Ingomar”. Located in a re-development area, the 1892 theatre had been 80% gutted and essentially destroyed; this design re-created the space as a 630-seat performing arts center meeting today’s technical and code standards including an expanded fly loft.

New stairs were added at the rear to meet egress requirements and provide seismic buttressing. The building’s classic Victorian exterior was restored with a dramatic emphasis at the theatre’s entrance.
Construction finished  in Mar. of 2016.
