Woodland Community College Performing Arts Has Just Finished Construction

Woodland Community College Performing Arts construction has just been finished.

Woodland Community College’s new performing arts complex is set to become a vibrant cultural hub for students and the surrounding community. The centerpiece of this 51,500 sq. ft. facility is a versatile 444-seat theater, designed to accommodate a wide range of performances, from theatrical productions and concerts to lectures and film screenings. With flexible seating configurations, the theater can also transform into a banquet hall for special events, enhancing its multi-use functionality. Backstage, performers will benefit from modern dressing rooms, a fully-equipped scene shop, and support spaces, ensuring seamless production flow.

The complex is not just about performances; it’s a comprehensive arts education center. Music instruction facilities will include two state-of-the-art labs and four practice rooms, providing students with the space and equipment needed to hone their craft. Visual arts will be supported by a dedicated art lab and storage for materials and works-in-progress. Additionally, two shared lecture rooms will accommodate classes of up to 50 and 70 students, fostering a dynamic learning environment. The culinary arts program will also find a home in this facility, with a purpose-built instruction area to teach the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals.

Woodland Community College is one of the few community colleges in California that started as a satellite campus in the 1970s and later became an independent college in 2008. It’s part of the Yuba Community College District, which was established in 1927, making it one of the oldest community college districts in California! The college’s growth reflects its commitment to expanding educational opportunities in the region while preserving a close-knit, supportive campus environment.
